The goose is getting fat
0December brings with it carol singing and our first engagements of the festive season took place yesterday (1st Dec).
Three sets in two locations, the first on a rather noisy street outside Above Bar church where we competed with the traffic though not, mercifully with the merry-go-round. The second inside at City College’s Christmas Fair where folk were far happier to stand and listen which was heartening.

Tickets are £10 from Malcolm Harvey 8036 8101 or Jean Pearce on 8067 7427. Refreshments and nibbles will be available for a donation. Do come and join us for a great evening and raise money at the same time.
First rehearsal of the term
0Great to be back after the summer break. Also good to meet Demelza and Weza who came to listen to us. We’ve been asked to sing before their wedding ceremony. It will be an African wedding, so brushed up our African repertoire: African Medley, Siyane Bulisa, Siyahamba etc to name but a few. Penny also introduced a new African song for us to learn that she’d picked up from a Black Voices workshop she attended over the summer! Considering we’d not seen/heard it before we picked it up quite quickly and managed a reasonable run through.
Summer Concert, St Mary’s church, South Stoneham
0The choir’s final event of the term is on Sunday 15th July at St Mary’s Church, South Stoneham, Southampton. Starting at 3pm, we will be joined by some musician friends of the choir and there will be a mix of a cappella, gospel and instrumental music.
Tickets are £5 on the door – all proceeds go to St Mary’s Church.
See you there!
