Choir photos
2You may have seen in the past many photos being taken by me. Well I do still have them all and will add to here as I can, but it will take a while and I will be selective else the site will be flooded with hundreds of photos.
So as a small test I have uploaded 6 from our south stoneham concert where we raised some money for the church’s roof.
If anyone has any requests for any particular photos then have a comment on here and I will put them up.
Go Live!
0Well we’ve finally been and gone and done it – the new web site is live on the southamptongospelchoir.org.uk name. I’m sure there are still a few wrinkles to iron out, but on the whole it is in a form I am happy with with some great new features and the ability for lots of people to contribute and get involved.
I have to say, I have been very impressed at how easy it was to get this site up and running; it is based on WordPress, one of the best known blog engines out there. The beauty of it is its extensibility and the features on this site are thanks to the thousands of extra elements developed by all sorts of people and offered for free to anyone that wants to use them. For example the tag cloud (called WP-Cirrus – how great is that?), the photo gallery, a contact form, an audio player and also many other less visible features are all thanks to plugins downloaded and implemented in minutes, or even seconds. The look and feel is also easily changed with again any of thousands of themes that can be downloaded. This one is based on Mystique, but it would be very easy to change the style in seconds just by switching themes.
Getting a bit geeky now, so I’ll stop, but if you are interested have a look at WordPress.org for more information and many examples of different types of site developed in this manner.
Checked it!

Well, isn’t this fun! *geeky giggle* Checked what I could do as a contributor and could see unapproved comment but not approve it. Approved it as admin user (this user).
This post also includes a picture test.
Lookin good!
1Nice one Mark! If this is a blog then I’ve broken my duck! Sorry to have missed you Monday night but we (the family) were all at the Mayflower for a night of Les Miserables, so we certainly enjoyed ourselves.
This looks good to me – as far as I’m concerned anything that is done to keep our site fresh is good. No such thing as bad publicity!
Welcome to the new site
6Welcome to the new web site of Central Hall Community Gospel Choir. The old site was getting a little out of date and needed a refresh, so we decided to go for a blog style. Hopefully it will be easier to keep up to date with regular relevant information about the choir and what it has been up to.
You will find more information in the About page, including how to get involved, as well as future events in the Calendar.
